Brian Vanderbloemen
The 2011-2012 School year is Mr. Vanderderbloemen's 12th year in McFarland, and his 19th year as a teacher. Prior to McFarland, he taught 6th grade Band and 9-12 Band in New Glarus for 6 years and before that he spent 3 years teaching 5th-12th band in the Edgar School District. Mr. Vanderbloemen has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University pf Wisconsin - Madison and a Master's Degree in Band Conducting from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, OR.
Mr. Vanderbloemen's wife, Anne, is a band director in the Middleton-Cross Plains School District. They have three wonderful children: Rachel is a 11th grader at LaFollette HS, Susan is a 8th grader at Whitehorse MS, and Charlie isn't quite ready for school.
You can see Mr. V occasionally playing Alto Saxophone in the Madison Jazz Orchestra. He also conducts the Madison Wind Ensemble, a band comprised of adults who still play their instruments for the love of music (most still practice regularly!).
